How to Set Up TiviMate | Android TV IPTV Player Guide
Set up TiviMate on Android TV: adding an Xtream Codes playlist, fixing an empty programme guide, and grouping a large channel list into a usable one.
What you need
- An active LeafIPTV subscription or trial.
- The login or playlist details delivered to your account email. Keep them private.
- A stable internet connection and enough free storage for the player app.
- The correct date and time set on the device.
Confirm your device can run it
TiviMate targets Android TV: Fire TV devices, Google TV, Nvidia Shield, Formuler and generic Android boxes. It is not available for Tizen, webOS, tvOS or iOS, and it is designed for a remote rather than a touchscreen. If your device is not in that list, this is not the player for you.
Add your playlist
TiviMate accepts both Xtream Codes and M3U, and it handles Xtream noticeably better because it can pull categories and guide data through the same connection.
- Install TiviMate from the Play Store or the Amazon Appstore, depending on your device.
- Open it and choose Add playlist.
- Select Xtream Codes and enter your username, password and server URL.
- Let the channel list and programme guide download completely.
- Open the playlist settings and set an automatic guide refresh interval.
Spend ten minutes on channel groups
This is where TiviMate earns its reputation. You can hide categories you never watch, reorder channels, and build custom groups — which turns an unmanageable list of thousands into a usable one of forty. On a large playlist this is the difference between a player you tolerate and one you like.
Do it once, properly, and the setup lasts for years. The free tier limits some of this; the paid tier removes the limits and adds recording and multiple playlists.
Troubleshooting
TiviMate does not appear in my app store
It is Android TV only. On a Smart TV, an Apple TV or a MAG box it simply does not exist. Use the platform's own available player instead, or add an Android TV device to that television.
The programme guide is empty or stale
Open the playlist settings and force a guide update, then set an automatic refresh interval. If the guide is empty specifically after switching from M3U to Xtream, remove and re-add the playlist so it re-detects the guide source.
A feature described in a tutorial is missing
Recording, multiple playlists and some customisation are in the paid tier. Nothing is broken — check whether the feature you are looking for is one of those before troubleshooting further.
FAQ
Does TiviMate work on a Firestick?
Yes — Fire TV is Android-based and TiviMate is available for it. It is one of the most common pairings.
Does TiviMate work on Samsung or LG Smart TVs?
No. It is Android TV only and cannot be installed on Tizen or webOS. Add an external Android TV device if you want it on those televisions.
Is the paid version necessary?
Not to watch. It is worth it if you want recording, multiple playlists, or the full channel-management features — which is exactly the audience that chooses TiviMate in the first place.
Should I use Xtream Codes or M3U with TiviMate?
Xtream Codes. TiviMate pulls categories and guide data more reliably through it, and the setup is fewer steps.
Why is TiviMate recommended so often for big playlists?
Its channel grouping and guide handling are better than the alternatives. On a list of several thousand channels that is the feature that decides whether the service is usable.
